Welcome to the introductory course for Arduino based PLCs. This course is intended to get you started with our Arduino based PLCs, from setting up the right environment to programming them, we will see how to use their main features with a set of simple examples. This course is intended for use with the Arduino PLCs from Industrial Shields.

What you need

Hardware
  • M-Duino PLC or Ardbox PLC.
  • USB B or Micro USB cable (depending on the PLC).
  • Computer running Windows, Linux, or macOS.
Software

To start using the PLC, the proper programming environment needs to be set up. Currently we support two main programming environments for our Arduino based PLCs:

  • ArduinoIDE. The Arduino Integrated Development Environment is an open-source cross-platform application primarily used for writing, compiling, and uploading code to Arduino-compatible microcontrollers. It is designed to be accessible to beginners while providing powerful features for more advanced users.
  • PlatformIO. PlatformIO is an open-source ecosystem for embedded development for various microcontroller platforms, including Arduino. It integrates with modern IDEs like Visual Studio Code offering advanced features.

Both are supported on Windows, MacOS and Linux.
