Case study: fleet route efficiency with GPS data and an Ardbox PLC

Case study of a frozen food distribution fleet that installed the same Industrial Shields Ardbox Analog with GPRS and GPS in every vehicle. Each unit sends the location, heading and speed of its truck over GPRS to the data centre, where the software chosen by the company shows speeds, routes, types of driving and stops. The first units went into a small vehicle (3,500 kg) on a local route with many stops and a large vehicle on a long route with two stops. Both showed patterns that allow better routes, and the position data helps meet the planned arrival times at large logistics centres.

The PDF covers the challenge, the three loops (track, compare, arrive), the system architecture with the data table and the hardware used. Interactive version: fleet route efficiency case study online.
