Case study: intrusion, fire and gas monitoring with an Arduino PLC, Panel PCs and MQTT

Case study of the design of an automated security system for a site with several hazards: burglary, fire and gas contamination. Motion sensors, security cameras, infrared fire sensors and LPG gas sensors go to the inputs of an Ethernet and GPRS/GSM PLC based on Arduino. The PLC sends its data through an Ethernet switch to several Panel PCs with a Node-RED interface, and to an MQTT server for phones, tablets and PCs. The sensor data is saved on the SD card of the PLC and sent to the server with FTP over GPRS/GSM; the camera recordings go straight to the server.

The PDF covers the challenge, the detect, monitor and keep loops, the system architecture with the signal list and the hardware used. Interactive version: intrusion, fire and gas monitoring case study online.
