Case study: pig farm automation with an M-Duino 19R+ and a TouchBerry Pi panel

Case study of a pig barn automated with one Industrial Shields PLC per room and a Panel PC. The PLC keeps the climate on set values with temperature and humidity sensors, runs the air conditioning and the dehumidifier, extracts CO2 and ammonia with fans and filters, weighs each food ration with a load cell, counts the water with a pulse meter and washes the pen with pressure tubes only when the door is open. The Panel PC holds the menu of programs, stores the data and shares it with a server.

The PDF covers the challenge, the three loops (climate and air, food and water, washing), the system architecture with the signal list and the hardware used. Interactive version: pig farm automation case study online.
