Ardbox Q Relay: Arduino UNO Q PLC with 8 relay outputs and Linux for data and AI

The Ardbox Q Relay is an industrial controller from Industrial Shields built on the Arduino UNO Q. It combines an STM32U585 microcontroller for real-time control with a Qualcomm Dragonwing QRB2210 processor running Debian Linux, so one DIN rail device can switch loads and also log data, serve dashboards or run edge models. It has 20 I/O, including 8 relay outputs to switch motors, pumps and valves without external relays, plus RS-485, RS-232 and Wi-Fi.

How the two processors work together, who it is for and how the two versions compare.

Before you choose the Ardbox Q Relay

How do I program the Ardbox Q Relay?

The real-time side runs on the STM32 microcontroller and is programmed in C++ with the Arduino IDE and the Industrial Shields boards package. The Linux side runs your applications with Arduino App Lab, Python, Node-RED or Docker. You connect through USB-C.

What happens if a Linux application fails?

The control program runs on its own microcontroller, separate from Linux. If a Linux application fails, the machine keeps running.

Does it have Ethernet or Modbus TCP?

No. It connects to field devices over RS-485 (Modbus RTU) and RS-232, and to the network over Wi-Fi on the Linux side.

Can the analog inputs read 4-20 mA sensors?

No. The analog inputs read 0 to 10 V signals.

Relay or Analog: which one do I need?

Choose Relay to switch motors, pumps and valves on and off directly. Choose Analog for measurement and proportional control with 0-10 V signals. Both have the same processors, software and 20 I/O.

2 GB or 4 GB of RAM?

Both run the same software. Choose 4 GB if you plan to run several containers or heavier Linux applications next to the control program.
