GateBerry: industrial Raspberry Pi gateway for Modbus, MQTT and Node-RED

GateBerry is an industrial gateway from Industrial Shields built around a Raspberry Pi. It connects field devices over RS-485 and Ethernet to local servers or the cloud, with Gigabit Ethernet, four USB ports, a real-time clock, a UPS that shuts Linux down safely on power loss and one slot for a communication board (LoRa, 4G, CAN, M-Bus or RS-232). It runs Debian 64-bit, so you build the gateway logic with Node-RED, MQTT, Python or Docker.

You are viewing the FLEX version. Configurable: up to 16 GB RAM, plus LoRa, 4G, CAN, M-Bus or RS-232.

Before you choose the GateBerry

What is GateBerry used for?

To collect data from meters, PLCs and sensors over Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP or MQTT and pass it to a SCADA, database or cloud platform, often with a Node-RED dashboard on top.

Does it have inputs and outputs?

No. GateBerry is a gateway without local I/O. For I/O, add remote I/O over Modbus RTU with moduleX or use a Raspberry PLC.

How much RAM does the CORE version have?

The CORE version ships with 2 GB of RAM. The FLEX version lets you choose from 2 to 16 GB; the specifications table lists the options.

What happens on a power failure?

The built-in UPS keeps the Raspberry Pi running long enough to shut Linux down cleanly, so the microSD card and your data are not corrupted.

Can it connect over LoRa or 4G?

Yes, the FLEX version takes one board for LoRa, 4G, CAN, M-Bus or RS-232. The CORE version ships without an expansion board.
