Arduino MKR
What is the Arduino MKR WiFi 1010?
The Arduino MKR WiFi 1010 is the perfect answer for thefor all major IoT application scenarios, because it is the simplest point of entry to pico-network and IoT design. As its name suggests, it has an integrated WiFi module that enables communication between devices so, for example, you could make a Bluetooth device with the purpose of delivering data to a PC.
The board consists of three main blocks:
Arm® Cortex®-M0 32-bit SAMD21(low-power): Just as in the entire Arduino MKR Family, this is the main processor.
U-BLOX NINA-W10 series: The connectivity is executed by the NINA-W10 module, that is composed of a set of low-power that operates at 2.4GHz.
Microchip® ECC508: As its name suggests, it is a crypto chip that ensures communication.
Moreover, the Arduino MKR WiFi 1010 comes with a directionable RGB LED on-board and a battery charger.
Official Arduino WiFi Library
The best of this board is that you will be able to connect to all types of WiFi network or, if you prefer, you can make your own Arduino Access Point and it is so simple. In case you have doubts about what you can do with the Arduino MKR WiFi 1010, you can explore the WiFiNINA library.
Bluetooth® and BLE
The Arduino MKR WiFi 1010 communication chipset is capable of connecting to BLE and also with Bluetooth®, but if you find yourself in the situation of wanting to make your own Bluetooth® central or a peripheral device, you can visit the ArduinoBLE library.
Battery Power
The MKR WiFi 1010 has a Li-Po charging circuit that allows it to work on a battery power only. Even so, it owns a USB port that can be used to charge it with a power of 5V.
Modifications
If you are advanced in hacking, with the Arduino MKR WiFi 1010 you can try out new things, simply by transforming the module’s firmware. For example, you can use the WiFi and BLE/Bluetooth® on the board simultaneously by simply modifying the WiFiNINA module. It is important to mention that any kind of modification breaks the certification of your WiFiNINA module, so any threat is at your own risk.
Compatible with Clouds Services
With the Arduino MKR WiFi 1010 you are capable to connect to some Cloud services. Here there are some of them:
Firebase
AWS IoT Core
Blynk
IFTTT
Azure
Getting Started
To get started, you will need to use the Arduino Software (IDE).
