What it is
GateBerry is an industrial IoT gateway based on Raspberry Pi and Linux. It connects existing field devices and PLCs to cloud platforms, SCADA systems and remote monitoring services. GateBerry has no industrial field I/O — it is a communication and integration device.
Is GateBerry a PLC?
No. GateBerry is not a PLC. It does not have industrial field I/O and does not execute field control logic. When both gateway functions and field I/O are needed in the same device, use the Raspberry Pi PLC instead.
CORE vs FLEX
- GateBerry CORE (€209): pre-configured, ready to order. Standard communication: Ethernet x2, RS485, CAN.
- GateBerry FLEX (from €129): configurable. Add optional boards: 4G, LoRaWAN, GPS, M-BUS, RS232, SIGFOX. Can be ordered without Raspberry Pi.
Prices are reference prices and may change.
Compatibility
| Works with | M-Duino, ESP32 PLC, Raspberry Pi PLC, any Modbus RTU/TCP device |
| Communicates via | Modbus RTU (RS485), Modbus TCP (Ethernet), MQTT, Node-RED flows |
| Cloud platforms | AWS IoT, Azure IoT Hub, MQTT brokers, REST APIs — via Linux SDK |
Typical use cases
- Reading data from existing Modbus PLCs without replacing them
- 4G-connected remote monitoring at sites without fixed network
- LoRaWAN sensor network gateway
- Edge Node-RED data processing and cloud publishing
