Can I replace the Arduino Mega with Leonardo?

Avatar

I have a very processor demanding project and need a faster CPU than the 16MHz AtMega. Can I open an M-Duino case and replace the board with a Lenoardo?

I don't need Ethernet to function, only Digital IOs and analog inputs.

Dear Jarl,

I am sorry to inform you that it is impossible to change the internal microcontroller of your M-Duino since the internal circuitry is completely designed for the Arduino Mega 2560 board.

Is it possible to use Adafruit's Grand Central M4 Express? The pin out looks the same as the Mega. (https://www.adafruit.com/product/4064) 16Mhz is just too slow for anything involving stepper motors.
